fire

IMG_4911, originally uploaded by FauxRealFlorida.

I need to get a fire lit under my ass... Tara's birthday is in a few days, and I need to go find some cool stuff for her.

Rain or shine, I'll be on the hunt...

Alaia

nose, originally uploaded by FauxRealFlorida.

I got my Tom Wegener Alaia "peanut" yesterday, and here it is...

Being that I live in Florida and it is flat for weeks at a time in the summer, it may be a while before I ride it.

I'm super stoked on it, it's very simple looking and has a sticky feel to it at the moment. I plan on oiling it with linseed oil if I can find some. I might use olive oil, or beeswax and orange oil as a substitute.

More to come after i actually get to ride it!

Francesco Locastro

We went to the IWAN warehouse tonight to hang my photos and help out a bit. Thank you to Tara and Jordan for helping me, I would never get it done by myself.

Late in the evening Francesco Locastro
came by to do a resin pour on the table (not a bar) near the merch. area. I always wanted to know how to do something like that, and he was willing to show us how it was done. He took the time to explain all the steps to us, and a few tips and tricks as well.
Here are some photos of the process, shot with my crappy cell phone camera, unfortunately.

pouring the resin.

mixing the 2 part resin. ("when you think you are done mixing... mix some more")

adding glitter to the mix.

spreading the mix evenly.

blow-torching the bubbles out.

done. once it cures overnight you trim the excess drips and you have a new surface!

I will add some photos of the finished product, once it is done. Please take the time to look at Francesco's website. He is an amazingly talented artist, and a really nice guy who is willing to share his knowledge.
